A Trip to Fort Leonard Wood

I recently took a trip to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, to see my youngest sister, Reneé graduate from Army Basic Training. It was a such a proud moment for our family to see her officially join the Military Police (MP) Corps. The ceremony was a great opportunity to see the culmination of her hard work over the last several months and get a firsthand look at all the discipline it takes to be in the U.S. Army. 

The atmosphere of the graduation was incredibly orderly and calm, which really reflected the focus of the new soldiers. It was impressive to see the precision of the formations and the shared sense of purpose among the graduates. Being there in person made it clear how much emphasis the environment at Fort Leonard Wood places on accountability and resilience. 

The highlight of the trip for me was seeing how much my sister has grown during her time in training. Her confidence and the way she carries herself have changed so much for the better. Now that she’s moving into her role as an MP, she has a newfound sense of responsibility and maturity that shows just how much she’s learned and pushed herself. Our mom would have been so proud of what she has accomplished and how much she has grown.  

Attending the event gave me a lot of respect for the dedication required to get through this kind of training. It was a great reminder of what can be achieved with enough commitment and hard work. It was an honor to be there to support her as she starts this next chapter of her career. She is currently stationed at Fort Hood in Texas.
