The Ties That Hold Us Together
Life has a way of reminding us of what truly matters, many times when we least expect it. The past seven months have brought significant changes to my family and me, bringing both profound sorrow and immense joy. It feels like just yesterday we were navigating the difficult goodbye to my mom, a loss from which we are still finding our way. Then, three weeks ago, a new light entered our lives with the arrival of my sister’s baby, bringing a sense of hope and the promise of new beginnings.
Navigating these varied emotions has been quite a journey. For many, grief can be isolating in the way it makes you feel like no one can know what you are going through. For my family though, we have turned to each other and become the support that we need.
And then, there’s the sheer joy of a new baby. Holding my niece for the first time was a great reminder that life is a miracle and that contrary emotions can often exist simultaneously. This new little one has brought a lightness into the world with her and a reminder to find the little joys in life.
In our financial planning conversations, we often talk about planning for the future and using money as a tool to live the life you want and protect what matters most to you. For me, what matters most is family; staying connected to them and doing what I can to support them. If I’ve learned anything throughout this past year, it’s to keep those you love close to you, reach out to them as much as you can and cherish those bonds.
