Finally Spring!
Spring is here! I’ve realized how much I need something fun to look forward to, it’s a good mood booster and helps get through the not-so-fun days too. My wife teases me, but I rely heavily on our iCloud calendar to plan out the year and mentally gear up for some fun times ahead.
This winter seemed like it dragged on forever, didn’t it? Now the heavy coats are packed away, and the days are longer with daylight lasting into the evening. The Phillies are on TV most nights (some games are tough to watch!), and next weekend, we’re taking the girls to their first game at Citizens Bank Park—my first time back in years. Can’t wait!
Yard work is kicking in, and everything’s turning green—though the pollen and debris are insane! I wouldn’t say I enjoy washing our cars by hand, but they do seem to come out way cleaner than the drive-thru washes around me. 2-3 days later and they’re filthy again making me wonder why I even bothered, haha!
I’m looking forward to some evening ice cream runs and weekend nights by the fire pit—simple joys that make spring and summer special. I’ll also do some drag racing this year. Our points series schedule at Maple Grove Raceway is limited compared to years’ past, so I’ll be looking to travel around to some of the other tracks in the region. That’s always a challenge since the facility and tracks themselves all vary to some degree and have their own quirks to factor in but that’s part of the fun.
We’ve set aside a week in July for a family vacation, but no plans yet. Barring any last-minute changes, Clearwater, Florida, is off the table this year due to our, very much needed but very much getting in the way of fun things, “year of saving.” Hopefully we’ll be able to find somewhere and something to do that will give all 5 of us some much-needed rest and relaxation. I’ll be sure to share an update later this year and if you have some recommendations for family vacations that won’t cost an arm and leg, I’m all ears!
