Charging Up for an Adventure - Our EV Road Trip

When my husband Josh and I bought our electric vehicle (EV) a couple of months ago, we knew it would be great for his daily commute. But one of the big questions we had was about longer trips. Would we be able to travel as easily as we did with a gas car? This past weekend, we finally got to find out, taking our first long-distance drive in our Chevy Blazer EV to upstate New York for a friend’s graduation party. The seven-hour trip was a great test and I’m happy to report that it was a huge success.

One of the most impressive parts of the trip was how seamless the navigation was. The Google Maps integration in our car was a total gamechanger. We simply put in our destination, and the system automatically planned our route, including exactly when and where we needed to stop and charge. It even told us how long we would need to be plugged in. This took away all the guesswork and worrying about running out of charge.

Over the entire drive, we only had to make two stops. Each time, we were only plugged in for about ten minutes. Honestly, by the time we walked into the rest stop and did what we needed to do, the car was already done charging. It felt just like a normal pit stop, but instead of paying for gas, we were just topping up our battery. The trip was smooth, efficient, and surprisingly easy. We’re already looking forward to our next EV adventure.
